The National Law University and Judicial Academy of Assam is established by the National Law School and Judicial Academy under the Assam Act XXV of 2009. The Honourable Chief Justice of the High Court of Assam located in Guwahati is the Chancellor of the University. The University takes upfront position ot promote legal education and research and provides education and accreditation to the students across the country and abroad as well. The university provides undergraduate and post graduate courses to impart at par education to the students. The University accomodates two batches of BA LLB Five year integrated course and a batch of of two year LL.M. Post graduation course. It has facilities like Hostels, Library, Computer lab, Video Conferencing hall, Common room for faculty, Moot Court, Recreation hall and other related facilities.

The University is located along BK Kakati road which is near the Bharalu river and is a offshoot of the Guwahati Shillong Road at the Ulubari Flyover. The nearest railway station is the Guwahati Railway Station and it is only 2.8 kilometers away and can be reached within 8 minutes by car.
The Guwahati international airport is 22.4 kilometers away and is about 29 minutes away by car.
