About Government Degree College, Baluwakot
Government Degree College, Baluwakot is located in the Indo-Nepal border area at Pithoragarh district. It was established by the then UP Govt. in the year 1996 and caters to the need of the students in Dharchula and adjoining areas. Baluwakot is a large village on the banks of Kali River in Dharchula Tehsil of Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand.
The college offers UG courses in Arts, Humanities, Commerce and Science, PG courses in Arts and Humanities, professional courses (Yoga and Social work), and some certificate courses (Disaster Management, Beauty Care, Yoga, Panchayti Raj, and Computer). It is affiliated to Kumaun University. Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani has a centre (Study Centre Code - 18031) in this college and many students take advantage of it and pursue various courses.
FacilitiesThere is one library in the college with a good stock of books related to the courses offered. There are books related to the professional courses as well.
There are good sports facilities available at the college. Interested students participate in various tournaments and matches. A student can participate in a maximum of three competitive matches. Annual sports are organised on a regular basis.
The college is having two units of NSS (National Service Scheme), where students enrol, learn and participate in various activities targeted towards social awareness, health camps, environmental issues etc. Interested students can attend the NSS camp also and can appear for the NSS A, B, or C certificate exam.
AdmissionsThe admissions are carried out as per the rules and regulations of Kumaun University and based on marks of Class XII (for UG courses) and marks in graduation (for PG courses).
