About Army College of Medical Sciences

The Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS), Delhi Cantt. is a private college that was established in 2008 by the Army Welfare Society (AWES) for the students of families in which a member is serving or has served in the Indian Army. ACMS was ranked among the top 25 medical colleges of India in the 2018 India Today ranking list. This reputed medical college is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is affiliated with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.

Special college committees have been set up to deal with various issues, if any, that may crop up, such as the Women's Grievance Cell and the Anti-ragging Committee.

Academics and activities at ACMS

There are three Departments of ACMS, offering pre-clinical, clinical, and paraclinical courses. The college is attached to the Base Hospital Delhi Cantt (BHDC), a renowned hospital of the Armed Forces. Thirty students of ACMS can pursue the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) PG course at BHDC in a specific medical speciality, this being accredited by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). ACMS and BHDC launched the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) for Biomedical Research to encourage ethical research and, at the same time, to ensure that all ethical guidelines are strictly adhered to. Some ACMS students have been awarded the ICMR-STS Research scholarship for successfully completing research projects in various disciplines, these projects being mentored by highly qualified ACMS faculty.

Workshops are organized and guest lectures and conferences are scheduled regularly to provide academic support to what is taught in the classroom. The annual inter-college sports & cultural fest is the highlight of co-curricular activities on the campus. Other than getting a prominent distinction in the annual University exams, students' talents come to the fore at inter-collegiate non-academic competitions as well. That is due to the support and encouragement students get in sports events and cultural programs.

Well this college was opened with a view of providing the medical education to the wards of ex-servicemen. The college was always sorrounded by the court cases over the distribution of seats because the college demanded for 100 percent qouta for army personal children but it is impossilble for university to do so. So the two batches had 100 percent army personals children but after that the seats were made open to all candidates by the university. The college was setup with a aim to impart a good and standard education. Management apart from making quick money is concerned about the reputation of the college and hence do lot of work for the students. For imparting the students overall personality, special all round development classes are conducted, the college has spends a lot of money on developing the infrastructure, so no compromise on the infrastructure. The whole is campus is surrounded with lush greenery as part of college green drive. The college is well connected to the by a major high way, so the problem of private transportation is not there. The academic background of the college is very impressive and is tried to be improved every year. The academic background of the college is as good as it was earlier. For remaining better in the academics, which is the utmost importance here, highly qualified faculty is inducted here. Education here not only means, knowledge form books, but knowledge with understanding and concept. 24 hours power backup facility is provide in hostels and there are separate hostels for boys and girls. The college has quit good library and various generals are also available, online generals are also available for the students. Placements have gone to high standards every year with pass out of every batch. The college has a very well stocked library and I think quit large as compared to students studying there. For the security dedicated security department is available 24 hours. Faculties provided to the students are very good and are imparting education with modern facilities. Facilities provided to students are good some of them are well stocked library, canteen and sports facility. The infrastructure has been the utmost important to excel in every field. The college believes in maintaining the discipline among the students, so proper attention is given towards the behavior and dress up of the students. The college fees structure is quite and set according to the latest trends. So no need to worry about the fees because the college provides special scholarships to the students who scored good ranks in the entrance and universities exam.
