The National Law University Delhi invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programs for the academic year 2024-25. You need to first appear for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET)-2024, the scores of which will determine your eligibility for admission, other than the required educational qualification and other eligibility criteria specified for each program. Applications have to be submitted online, and the AILET will be conducted offline at specific test centres.

Foreign nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)/Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who fulfill the eligibility requirements are also welcome to apply. NLU Delhi B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program
This course is a 5-year one, with 110 seats allotted on the basis of AILET scores, and 10 additional seats, out of which five are for Foreign Nationals and five are for OCI/PIO for direct admission on merit. There is also one additional Supernumerary seat for Kashmiri Migrants and two for residents of Jammu & Kashmir.Course fee: Refer to the Table below-

Note- Only students from outside Delhi/NCR may be considered for hostel accommodation based on the availability of hostel rooms.
Eligibility criteria: You should have passed the Higher Secondary School exam (10+2) or an equivalent exam with a minimum of 45% marks (40% is the criteria for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities). You can also apply if you are appearing for the Class 12 exam in 2024. Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO need not appear for the AILET but are required to have a score of at least 65% in the Higher Secondary School exam (10+2) or an equivalent exam.
NLU Delhi LL.M. program
This is a one-year course, with 70 seats allotted on the basis of AILET scores, and 10 additional seats, out of which five are for Foreign Nationals and five are for OCI/PIO for direct admission on merit. There is also one additional Supernumerary seat for Kashmiri Migrants.Course fee: Refer to the Table below-

Note- You will not get hostel accommodation for this program.
Eligibility criteria: You should have an LL.B. or an equivalent law degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% is the criteria for SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities). You can also apply if you are appearing for the final year LL.B. annual exam in 2024. Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO seeking admission to the LL.M. program are exempted from AILET.
About NLU Delhi Ph.D. programs
The Ph.D. programs offered, and the eligibility requirements for each, are-Ph.D. Degree in Law: There are a total of 27 seats, out of which 16 are allotted on the basis of merit as per AILET scores, five for UGC-JRFs, four for Fellowship through AILET Merit, and two for Foreign Nationals.
Eligibility: You should have a Master's degree in Law or an equivalent professional degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (relaxed by 5% for reserved category candidates) or its equivalent Grade [refer to the official website to know other acceptable academic qualifications].
Ph.D. Degree in Social Sciences: There are a total of four seats, one each for UGC JRF, AILET, Foreign Nationals, and Fellowships. The number of seats may be increased if NLUD faculty members are also applying for this Ph.D. program. The fields associated with Social Sciences for which you can pursue a Ph.D. are Political Science, Sociology, Criminology, Economics, and English.
Eligibility: You should have a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in relevant Social Sciences or Humanities with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (relaxed by 5% for reserved category candidates) or its equivalent Grade. NLUD faculty members are also welcome to apply but must ensure that pursuing the Ph.D. program does not come in the way of their teaching role and other academic responsibilities. UGC-Junior Research Fellows and Foreign nationals do not have to appear for AILET.

About NLU Delhi AILET-2024
Entrance Exam Fee
The online application fee for AILET for all the courses is as follows-For General /OBC/EWS/Foreign Nationals/ Kashmiri Migrants/ Residents of Jammu & Kashmir: Rs.3,500/-
For SC/ST and Persons with Disability (PwD): Rs.1,500/-.
For SC and ST candidates who are in the category of Below Poverty Line (BPL): No entrance exam fee.
The fee can be paid with a debit card or a credit card or through Net Banking/UPI, etc as per the options that you can check on the official website under the admission guidelines given for the respective programs.

Application procedure
Register at the AILET portal , fill in the required details, and upload the following documents during the online application process-- A passport-size colour photo with white background in .jpg/jpeg/png format and not more than 1 MB in size. Note that you must have extra copies of this exact same photo as it will be required later for the Admit Card and, if required, for other procedures during the campus admission/counselling process.
- Your signature on a white paper sheet within a box 6x3 cms (width x height) in .jpg/jpeg/png format and not more than 1 MB in size.
- BPL certificate issued by the competent authority, if applicable (not more than 2 MB in size).
- Passport, if applying as a Foreign National category (not more than 2 MB in size).
- PWD Certificate, if you are applying in the PWD reserved category (not more than 2 MB in size).

Important dates
The closing date to submit applications online is 13th November 2023.Admit Cards will be available to download on the official website on 20th November 2023.
AILET Entrance date is 10th December 2023 (Sunday), from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After ALIET results
Once the result of the ALIET is declared and you are eligible for admission, you need to bring the following documents at the time of admission/counseling process-- Academic documents-
- For admission to B.A.LL.B.(Hons) program: Marks Statement of Class XII and X.
- For admission to LL.M. program: Marks Statement of B.A.LL.B./LL.B. or equivalent and Class XII & X.
- For Ph.D. programs: Marks Statement of LL.M or any other qualifying examination, B.A.LL.B./LL.B. or equivalent and Class XII & X.
- Latest Character Certificate.
- Transfer Certificate.
- Valid SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ Persons with Disability/Kashmiri Migrant/Resident of J&K Certificate, as applicable.
