University of Mumbai IDOL distance learning programs online admissions 2019-2020


Are you keen on pursuing MCA through a distance learning course? You can do so through the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), University of Mumbai. MCA and other undergraduate and postgraduate programs are offered through IDOL. The list of distance learning courses offered by the University of Mumbai and the application procedure has been provided below.

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), University of Mumbai has announced online admissions open for undergraduate and postgraduate programs which are approved by University Grants Commission(UGC)-Distance Education Board(DEB), for the academic year 2019-2020. Government of India scholarships are available for students who belong to the reserve categories, namely SC, ST, OBC, VJ-NT, and SBC.

Note that students of S.Y. and T.Y.B.A./B.Com. from an affiliated college of the University of Mumbai who appeared and failed in the first half of 2019 exam, and later passed in the Supplementary exam in the same year, are not eligible to take admission to any further class for this academic year.

Undergraduate programs

  1. F.Y.B.A., S.Y.B.A. and T.Y.B.A.
  2. B.Com.
  3. B.Sc. (IT)
  4. S.Y.M.C.A. and T.Y.M.C.A.

Postgraduate programs

  1. M.A. – I and II for these subjects: History, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Marathi, Hindi,, English.
  2. M.A. (Education) – I and II.
  3. M.Com. – I and II for Accounts/Management.
  4. M.Sc. – I and II for Mathematics, and IT.
  5. PGDFM and PGDORM (one year, two-semester program).




Important dates for above programs

  • Last date of admission without late fees: 20th August 2019.
  • Dates of admission with late fees: 21st August 2019 to 26th August 2019.

IDOL M.C.A. Entrance Test 2019

Online applications will be accepted to the three-year (six semesters) MCA course through Distance and Open Learning mode as per this schedule:
  1. Form availability: 5th August 2019 to 13th August 2019.
  2. Date of entrance test: 18th August 2019.

How to apply

You need to register online at the Mumbai University Institute of Distance and Open Learning official website and then fill up the online admission form. Note that for the academic year 2019-2020 a Repeater Candidate should register as a new user and that the User ID created for 2019-2020 is valid only for the said academic year's admission/repeater form filling. Furthermore, payment will be accepted only through the online mode, and Challan or bank offline payments will not be accepted.

Ensure that you have a valid email ID and mobile number and provide accurate details of your residential address/address for communication. In case your results have been recently declared but you have not yet collected your mark sheets, then you can upload the online Gazette copy of your results to seek admission to the IDOL course.

Documents required for uploading for the online application:
  1. A scanned copy of a passport-size color photograph. This photo of the applicant should be taken against a white background, with a size of 45 mm high and 35 mm wide, and scanned with minimum 72 to maximum 150 dpi.
  2. A scanned copy of the applicant's signature against a white background.
  3. Scanned copies of all the requisite mark-sheets and certificates of the last qualifying exam.
  4. A scanned copy of the Caste Certificate, if applicable.

Important note: If you are applying on the basis of the qualifying exam passed from another Board other than the Maharashtra State Board, or a University other than the University of University, then it is necessary to get approval from the IDOL Eligibility Unit before making any payment.
