India's changing foreign policy and her role in the new world order.

From the very beginning, India formally became a republic with a fixed territory and area. She had a vision of world order and world view that separates her from the rest of the world. A world view of non-alignment, a view of the rejection of extremes, peace, and a cosmopolitan world order. In the nascent stages of her democracy, India followed the traditions of the "world as a family", walked very cautiously and peacefully without making new enemies and avoiding the ones who believed in the enmity, overall taking a middle path.

This path, for so long, worked very well for India but did not give India the identity it craved for. The identity of being a superpower and a key player in the world order. Now India is developing in all important aspects, be it economy, society, academics, science and technology, research and development and a massive population (which can be useful as well as harmful depending on how India is able to manage its human resource and young generation). With all such power, India is gaining firmness, assertiveness and for some people aggressiveness as well.

Now India is slowly leaving her middle path and trying to form a new path. Only time can tell whether it is right or wrong but for now, India is showing the world the power she has.

What are your views on India's new path, world view, and the role to play in the current world order?

A good observation by the author on India's new emerging role in the international arena. If we analyse the factors that make a country important in the international map then some of these are as follows.
Country should have a developing economy which means that manufacturing and export potential should increase. That also means that GDP should be healthy.
Another thing is job opportunities. It is obvious that with economy looking up jobs should be created to accommodate the large number of unemployed youths. If that does not happen then policy is to be reviewed.
Other important factor is defence sector. A country should have a good military might and should also possess modern weapons not to attack on other countries but to safeguard one's people in case some country attacks on us due to any reason.
One more thing that plays part in this is the diplomatic relations with other countries. Different countries have different expectations from India and a good diplomatic attitude is required to keep a balance in relationships with other countries.
So if we analyse based on above considerations some of the things are definitely giving a rosy picture but still we have to improve in many areas for making the dream of becoming a world power come true.

    Knowledge is power.

I agree with the author. We are seeing a change in the approach of the country in various matters in dealing with foreign countries. The way in which our country maintained its identity in dealing with relations with Russia as well as Ukraine during the war. Our country went against the USA and purchased crude oil from Russia. That is a very bold decision and India stood firmly and showed the rest of the world the confidence it had.
Even some Muslim countries are supporting India and going against Pakistan. That shows how powerful India is. A big asset for this country is its population. Businessmen are looking at Indians for selling or making their products in India. My industrialists are coming here with good proposals. That itself speaks to how confident we are. India will definitely become a much-desired place for many other countries and their operations will start here. That will increase the job opportunity which is very much required

Yes, it is true that in the last few years we have seen quite a few changes in how our country engaged with others. It is more so evident during the current Ukraine war, where India refused to toe the western line, even though being friends with the West. During Covid too, India was proactive in its dealing with the world. The Doklam skirmish and Balakot surgical strike by the Indian Airforce are also pointers in this regard. From a bipolar world during the cold war to a multipolar world in the current times, it is however natural that every country change their approach in dealing with the powers to be. Not only just US or Russia, China, and in the coming decades, India too will be one of the powers to reckon. Though India was more of a non-aligned country during the Soviet era, it was heavily tilted towards the Soviets. No wonder, during Bangladesh liberation war the Soviets sided with India and US with Pakistan. At most UN voting sessions then, India always supported Soviet Union and vice versa. The Soviet Union was a very close friend then. No more so. Even though the non-aligned term is no more fashionable these days, the present government has taken a very balanced approach. It is neither ready to antagonize the Americans nor the Russians. The country maintains good relations with both US and Russia. Not so during the cold war. With increasing prosperity, aspirations, literacy, awareness amongst today's Indian youth and growth in the economy, the country today is becoming more and more assertive and rightly so in every sphere, be it military, political or economic. The make in India movement towards self-reliance is also indicative of such an assertive approach, where we no longer have to depend heavily upon others.
    Patience and perseverance pays

The author has presented a very interesting thread highlighting its standing on different vital issues. We have had always a special focus on different parameters including its foreign policies. We have strived hard on the different forums to show others regarding our achievements in the different areas and some of the areas are shown below-
    1) Even in the turbulent times, when the entire world was in grip of corona phase showing a decline in the industrial outputs, we could at least maintain the same level prior to corona phase.
    2) Though there was massive expenditure by way medication, providing safety of the people and helping our neighbours with food and other items in the crisis, this denotes to our excellent management of our tasks.
    3) Our foreign relations are excellent. We have had dialogues with both Russia and Ukraine to end the war which is creating unnecessary tension and economic devastation of the universe as a whole and they should ensure stability in the universe. Both the countries do accept our efforts towards the normalisation of the relationships.
    4) We believe in the non interference policies with the other countries but not comprising intrusion of antisocial elements from other countries.
    5) There has been tremendous changes in our youths in respect of their education and their excellence in the different areas.
