India's changing foreign policy and her role in the new world order.
From the very beginning, India formally became a republic with a fixed territory and area. She had a vision of world order and world view that separates her from the rest of the world. A world view of non-alignment, a view of the rejection of extremes, peace, and a cosmopolitan world order. In the nascent stages of her democracy, India followed the traditions of the "world as a family", walked very cautiously and peacefully without making new enemies and avoiding the ones who believed in the enmity, overall taking a middle path. This path, for so long, worked very well for India but did not give India the identity it craved for. The identity of being a superpower and a key player in the world order. Now India is developing in all important aspects, be it economy, society, academics, science and technology, research and development and a massive population (which can be useful as well as harmful depending on how India is able to manage its human resource and young generation). With all such power, India is gaining firmness, assertiveness and for some people aggressiveness as well.
Now India is slowly leaving her middle path and trying to form a new path. Only time can tell whether it is right or wrong but for now, India is showing the world the power she has.
What are your views on India's new path, world view, and the role to play in the current world order?
