  • How to turn WhatsApp off without uninstalling it or deleting the account?

Do you wish to turn off WhatsApp from your smart phone without uninstalling it? Get step by step guidance from software experts in this thread on the procedure to turn off WhatsApp from your smart phone without actually uninstalling or or need to delete the WhatsApp account.

I have been using WhatsApp on my Samsung Grand Quattro for quite some time. Very recently, I felt the need to turn WhatsApp on my mobile off. I explored my phone, but could not find a way to turn it off. My phone did not have any option to sign off from WhatsApp. I googled my query but to no avail.

Could someone suggest a way to log off from WhatsApp without uninstalling it from Samsung Grand Quattro or deleting the account from WhatsApp?

  • There is no option built in Whatsapp to logout from your account. It is one of the drawbacks of Whatsapp. Only way to turn it off is either by uninstalling it or deleting your account or switch off your phone. One advise from me is you can backup your app, then uninstall it and install it whenever required. But again you have to go through the process of your number verification and you will lose your messages.

  • Dear Member,

Whenever I face a problem like this with any app, I will try to force stop the application. Here is how I do that.

    * In your mobile, Go to Settings->Applications. Now in this page you will have three categories(may be four) of applications. First one is 'Downloaded', second is 'Internal', third is 'Running applications' and the fourth one might be 'All'. Go to the 'Downloaded' or 'All' category.

    * Check whether 'WhatsApp' is present in 'Downloaded' or 'All' category. If it is present, then click on it. Now you will come into a page where you can see the button "Force Stop". Click on it. If it asking for confirmation, give OK. Check now in 'Running Applications'. Your WhatsApp application would have stopped from external connections and would have gone in passive mode.

    * Do not ever try to open WhatsApp at this stage because if you do so, its equal to making it active again.

  • You may turn off your data usage, if yo do not need same for other uses. Apps like whatsapp are expected to be always on and ready to make one 'connected'. Hence turning it off defeats its designed purpose.

  • Thank you, Syed Rizwan. That is the thing I was looking for. It really worked the way I wanted it to, and it has solved my problem.

    Thank you once again!
