What is the difference between micro and macro?

Micro means a bird eye view. That is the study of very component of population is examined, it is termed as Micro.

Macro means a over all study of the population. Generalization can be done on the basis of results derived from Marco study

Micro in other terms mean small.
Macro is even smaller than micro.

Mini then micro then macro (size from big to small)

In simple language micro mens small and macro means large.
We use micro and macro as units also.

micro and macro are the terms mostly used in the study of economics.Micro economics deals with the study of the market behaviour of individuals and individual units. Whereas macro economics deals with the total activities of the economy as a whole.

The words 'micro' and 'macro' are the prefix used to represent the size of the things.

Micro also represent 1/1000000 or 10^-6 part of thing. It means when we are saying Micro meters then it represents 1/10000000th part of a meter.

For macro there is no such any mathematical value assigned to it.

In general, micro word is used when anyhting is to be dealed at very detailed level while macro is used when we study anything at large level or mass level.

So these words are not always used mathematically but to represent the relative size of thing being represent. For example in economics the term micro-economics is used when we study it at person to person level, while macro-economics is used for national or mass level.

Similarly the word microscopic is used for the things which can be seen with the help of microscope, while the the word macroscopic is used for the things which can be seen by naked eye without microscope.

Thus the words micro and macro representn the relative size or levels at which we want to study or demonstrate the things.

The word 'Micro' refers to 'very small' or 'minute'. For example we have heard about 'Micro-organisms' which means very small and minute organisms which cannot be seen by naked eyes and we can analyse them only through a microscope.
The word 'Macro' is just opposite of micro. Macro means 'large'. For example we have many macro-molecules in our body like protein, carbohydrate etc.
Thus Micro and Macro are prefixes that can be used to explain the size and characteristics of any object or living thing.

Micro is term that indicates variables of an individual like personal income, personal expenditure, personal saving.

On the other hand, Macro, indicates variables of whole poulation or nation, like national income, national expenditure, and etc.

Therefore, we can say that Macro is the aggregate of micro. when we add up all the micro variables then we get macro variables.

For example, Personal income of x + Personal income of y + Personal income of z = National Income

General meaning of micro means very small and macro means bigger.

In Scientific measurements, the micro is that size, which can be difficult to see with blank eyes and macro is size of object which can see with blank eye. For example we know that microscope is the instrument to view the objects, like molecules, bacteria, virus etc., which can not be visual to blank eye.

In mathematics, the micro and macro is compared with some standard unit. for example 1 meter is standard unit of mass in SI system then,

One micro meter = 1/100000 meter or 10^-6 meter.
But there is no measurable quantity like macro-meter, larger quantities than the unit are measured are, kilo meter 1000 times of meter, mega meter is 10^6 times of meter etc.
