National Symposium on
Recent Advances in Toxicological studies: Molecular and physiological aspects
|
The studies on the adverse effects of foreign agents both in vitro and in vivo, on health of human, animal, plants and ecosystem are covered under broad area of toxicological studies. The seminar aims at providing a platform to the advances in sound scientific understanding of the mechanisms by which foreign substances adversely affect health. The basic principle and concepts in toxicology like dose, exposure, hazard, risk, indicators, biomarkers, etc. the experimental and epidemiological methods to evaluate toxicity of chemicals, xenobiotic absorption, biotransformation and elimination, effects of pollutants, pesticides, etc. and the methodology of risk assessment are certain key objectives that would be addressed during the seminar. The emphasis will be on the molecular basis of the toxic effects caused due to foreign agents in animals, plants and the ecosystems, their detoxification and remediation strategies with key examples. Animals and plants are not isolated rather exist as participants in complex environment. Those working in the area of animal toxicity, phytotoxicity, genotoxicity, dealing with detecting the toxicological effects of chemical agents, the DNA damage and repair can be explored by the study of molecular modes of action of these compounds. Our objective is to provide opportunities to young researchers and students to comprehend and exchange ideas in the field of toxicology and the poster sessions during the symposium would assist the cause. The symposium has been designed in a way that it is explicable by both the non members and members of the scientific community.
