HOME REMEDIES FOR ACIDICY
Acidity can be defined as a condition in which there is an excess secretion of hydrochloric acid within the stomach. It is also commonly known as hyperacidity or acid dyspepsia. Acidity is a widespread common disorder. If not treated in time it leads to ulcer formation in the digestive tract. It is mainly caused when the acid, an important component of the digestive juices, is produced in excess.
In acidic conditions, there is a movement of gastric juices from the stomach into the lower esophagus. This condition mainly arises when acidic contents in stomach (hydrochloric acid) move upward into the esophagus and make it dysfunctional
CAUSATIVE FACTORS:
•Excessive hot, spicy and dried food.
•Intake of fats, sweet, adulterated and fermented food.
•Alcohol consumption and excessive smoking.
•Excessive intake of strong chocolate, tea, coffee, garlic and onion.
•Stress-related conditions like anger, fear and worrying.
•Excessive exposure to sun and heat.
•Aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs signs and symptoms.
•Burning sensation in the chest and throat.
•Soul oral secretion/ belching.
•Vomiting and headache.
•Heat in the body.
•Lack of appetite.
HOME REMEDIES:
•Take equal portions of ginger and coriander to get relief from acidity.
•Drink 1-2 glasses of water early morning to keep yourself healthy and free from acidity.
•Squeeze the juice of a whole orange and mix it with roasted cumin seeds. Add some rock salt as per your taste. This will give you an immediate relief from acidity.
•You can also drink coconut oil to get relief from acidity.
•A decoction of sandal may be consumed thrice a day for relief.
•Tender fruit pulp of coconut may be taken from time to time. Tender coconut water soothes gastric irritation.
•Drink coconut water 3-4 times in a day.
•Simple sugar-added cold water also brings down the acidity level immediately. However, diabetes should refrain from this remedy.
•About 200 to 500 ml of cold milk taken in sips during the day proves very beneficial in controlling acidity.
•Chew 8-10 mint leaves early in the morning on an empty stomach for one month. Having raw onions along with your meals will also keep acidic at bay.
•Chew 7-8 basil leaves to get relief from acidity and gas.
•Drink a glass of lemon juice before each meal, it will help relieve acidity.
•Take a glass of water and add a pinch of baking soda and drink it at one go. It gives immediate relief.
•Take a glass of warm water, add a pinch of asafetida and have it every morning.
•Eat a serving of cucumber or watermelon 4-5 times in a day.
