What is Saptapadi Saptapadi as name signifies is seven steps. In Sanskrit, Sapta is seven and Padi is steps. So we can call it as seven steps. Saptapadi is one of sacred marriage rituals in Hindus which is of utmost importance. Here couple who is getting married vows in presence of AGNI DEV(God of Fire) certain things. This is relevant as in every relationship there is going to be bad period. These Saptapadi vows are useful in such bad times. If husband and wife are having bad marriage, they should remember Saptapadi vows taken together during ritual in marriage. They must understand that not one of them can be held responsible for all problems. Spiritual aspect of Saptapadi In Spiritual aspect, marriage is nothing but unity of two souls. As in spirituality, all souls are merged in that Almighty power and everything in universe is part of that great power. When you get married, both of your souls are merging in each other. When you love your partner, you are loving a part of Universe and indirectly you are loving GOD. Saptapadi revolves around vows that are more of Universal nature. Two souls getting united with each other is very blissful thing happening in universe and together they pray for their well being. When they are happy with each other, indirectly they as part of Universe are maintaining peace in there. When you love each other as couple, you come close to GOD!! I would like readers to address couple as Unity of 2 souls!! Seven vows (Saptapadi) First vow of Saptapadi Couple prays god to flourish them with plenty of food for their survival. Second vow of Saptapadi The couple prays to the Gods to make them mentally and physicaly strong and life free of diseases. Third vow of Saptapadi This is most important vow in terms of spirituality. They take vow that though they are getting married, they would not forget their spiritual duties and spiritual obligation. They would not Almighty GOD after getting married. Fourth vow of Saptapadi They pray together to remain happy in relationship in all aspects of life. Fifth vow of Saptapadi Here couple prays for well being of whole Universe and all its entities. This is for peace amongst all Universe Sixth vow of Saptapadi This is for beautiful seasons all over world. Here they pray to Mother Nature to save Universe from calamities Seventh vow of Saptapadi Couples vow that they are willing to make sacrifice for Universal Peace. By reading these above vows, we come to know that when couples get married, there is unity of souls and hence it has large spiritual importance. Love each other and don’t forget your above vows taken with each other for larger universal bonding and peace!
