Free radicals are the chemical entity in the humen body contains unpaired electrons and chemically unstable & highly reactive.
Free radicals defined as any species capable of independant existance that contains one or more unpaired electrons in their
structure, cause highly reactive & unstable nature. stability achieved by removal of electrons from surrounding molecules process
known as oxidation. the presence of single free radical may initiate a chain sequence of electron transfer reactions.
due to unstable nature they react with humen enzymes, harmones & other important chemicals. this reactions
results in unwanted results in humen body. like cell over growth, cellular damages, changes in functions, etc.
the cancer is occur due to increase in free radicals. free radicals also responsible for heart attack, Diabetes,
inflamations, etc.
The daily food contains several free radicals or free radical generating material. the sources of food like oil & other
highly treated substances like "Stored and packed foods" liberate free oxygen radicals when contact with micro-organisms. The free
radicals classified on the basis of formation:
1. Reducing free radicals: free radicals gives one electron to another atom.
2. Oxidizing free radicals: free radicals accepted one electron from another atom.

The biological role of free radicals:
1. modulation of inflammatory process.
2. maintance of vascular tone.
3. sever oxidation of biomolecules like DNA, proteins, carbohydrate, lipids.

Major Sources of free radicals:
1. Endogenous: Mitochondrial electron transport transition of metal ions Enzyme.
2. Exogenous: Drugs, Smoking, Rdiation, treated food, etc.

Free Radical induced diseases:
Lipid peroxidation & hydro-peroxides responsible for irreversible cell damage. Hydroxy radical causes chemical alteration of DNA.
This is major cause of Carcinogenesis. leads to Atherosclerosis, cancer, etc.

Treatment for Free Radicals:
The free radicals controle by Natural antioxidant defense suppress free radicals. antioxidants are scavenge free radicals and make
them inactive. like vit C, B-carotene, tocopherol, etc.
