India vs Australia Series 2009 - Review of Past Series

Australia’s last visit to India came in 2008 when the visitors were beaten by the Indians 2-0 in the three-match test series. That series was the last for two Indian legends Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly who retired from international cricket following the series. India is always a threat for the opposition team while playing on home ground. Moreover, Australia has not been in good form recently following a series of retirements of some of their great players over the last few years,and friends we cant just forget that they are the winners of the recent champions trophy (2009. Last Visited Series: The last time Australia played an ODI series in India, October 2007, they won with a margin of 4-2, convincingly 1st ODI, Bangalore : Clarke's century, Indian chase rained off. 2nd ODI, Kochi : Australia score 306, India lose by 84 runs. 3rd ODI, Hyderabad : Yuvraj's 121, Aussies won by 47 runs. 4th ODI, Mohali : India sneek a 8 run win. Dhoni 50 of 35. 5th ODI, Baroda : India lose by 9 wkts, Johnson 5 wkts. 6th ODI, Baroda : India fail by 18 runs, chasing 317. 7th ODI, Mumbai : Murali Karthik snatch six wickets, India won.
Best Bowling Figures: There is a special mention of the last ODI(7th). Murali bowled India to victory on 17 October 2007 on a under prepared square Turing pitch at Mumbai and he was called back from no where by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to play this one day international, at Mumbai again. Murali dismissed Brad Hodge, Andrew Symonds, James Hopes, Brad Haddin, Brad Hogg and Brett Lee to register the best ever bowling figure in India vs Australia one day international cricket match.Ken Macleay and Ajit Agarkar are the only two other bowlers in Ind v Aus ODI to get 6 wickets in an innings.

Highest Score by a Batsmen: Sachin Tendulkar, in pursuit of Australia's 284, made thrilling 143 off just 131 balls on 22 April 1998.Many Indian cricket fans still believe that was Tendulkar's best century ever, although India lost the game by 26 runs!
2 days later i.e on 24 April 1998, Tendulkar scored another century 134 and this time, India won the match and also the Coca Cola Cup!
