Konaseema Residential Jr College-KAKINADA

It was the year 1996. I have just finished my tenth class with very good score at Uppada high school which is very small village in east Godavari district Andhra Pradesh. Then my parents started searching for a good jr college at kakinada with hostel facility. As we are staying at Aminabad which is 19 km from Kakinada my parents thought that the will join me in a good college which is having good hostel facility. There are many branded colleges existing in Kakinada which will offer intermediate with hostel facility. But my parents don’t want me to join in such huge crowd where I also will be one among the crowd. Finally their search finishes with finding Konaseema Residential Junior College which is placed at NFCL Road kakinada
The college was established by 7 directors where majority directors are from tamilnadu. At that time this was the only college which is having lecturers as Dierectors.The College was built in beautiful location. There were two separate buildings one for girls and another for boys. For girls hostel and college were placed in the same building in different floors but for boys there are two different buildings for hostels. They used to offer Mpc,Bipc,Mec,and Cec groups in English medium
After my tenth class summer vacation my parents have joined me in the college and hostel too. But that was the first time life where I would be staying without them. I felt that was the most embarrassing situation ever faced in my life. Two days I was so dull always thinking about my home. Basically I was home sick. On Friday evening Suddenly I found that one of my friend in the hostel is going out by taking some out pass from hostel warden .I have enquired them how to take the pass, when should I come back and started to my home very happily. That was my first journey where I was traveling alone.
Another big problem what I faced was medium problem. Up to 10th class I was fully in Telugu medium. Even though I was the first at my mandal level in 10th class, I was very poor in English and I don’t know how to form a sentence on my own. I used to score maths and Sanskrit very well but I was unable to score even minimum marks in other subjects where I need to write in English like physics, chemistry, and of course English. I was really struggled a lot to come out of the problem.
There was a ranking test conducted by the college to asses the knowledge of student s at the time of starting and based on the ranks obtained they used to segregate first 40 students in to section A and remaining members into section B.I got 28th rank in that test .Since section A consists bright students lecturers will go speed there and in section B they are used to concentrate on important points and were going a bit slow. Even though I got 28th rank I was sitting along with section B since I was having a medium problem.
I remember that there were few members like me those who are having medium problem. we used to write and practice on slates repeatedly.
Our college timings are from morning 9:00 to evening 5:00. in between we used to have an in travel from 10 to 10:15 and lunch break from 1:00 to 2:00.after college we will be having one hour break and then study hours will start from 6:00 to 9:00.Then we need to go to hostel, used to have dinner and sleep. If exams are approaching near by then they will conduct study hours in morning also from 5:30 to 8:00am.Day scholars are not required to attend the study hours.
There were two hostel buildings; I was staying in the hostel which is having cooking and dining room as well. The food is very good and high genie. There was no limitation to serve an item while eating. One can eat based on his capacity and willingness. No one will restrict them.
Our lecturers are fully Qualified and efficient in subject. Our math’s lecture Mr. Natarajan is one of the best among the district. Once the syllabus is completed we used to sit on ‘schedules’ where we used to prepare for exams. For some selected group of students they are used to give Eamset and IIT coaching. These classes were conducted by our staff and also by some professors from IIT madras. They thought us the subject with subject orientation rather than exam orientation. This helped us in our life and we can say that we are strong in fundamentals. My lecturers are very cooperative in studies and very strict also.
From the second year onwards as my parents shifted to Kakinada, I used to come directly from my home as a day scholar. Daily I used to travel 16 kilometers from my home by bicycle to reach my college.
Frankly speaking I have enjoyed my college life very much even though I never bunked up my college.
