Our abdomen houses a number of important organs. So abdominal pain we suffer occasionally can have different causes and also characteristics. It may be indigestion pain, colicky pain, renal gallstone colic, appendicitis, urinary tract infections, inflammation of the fallopian tubes etc.
Colicky pain shows up typically after food and is felt high up in the abdomen. It may be accompanied by heartburn or waterbrash. Renal and Gallstone colic gives severe pain in the abdomen. It is a colicky pain that comes on intermittently. Renal colic may be accompanied by blood in the urine. Appendicitis usually causes abdominal pain, at first this is felt around the navel and is accompanied by fever and vomiting. It then moves to the lower right.
Sometimes we feel a characteristic pain on passing urine. It may be due to urinary tract infections and Cystitis. Pain may be felt above the pubic bone at the front of the pelvis, along with the pain mentioned above. Severe lower abdominal pain and tenderness may also be caused by an inflammation of the Fallopian tubes, which is otherwise known as Salpingitis.
