Satyam is no more at present, but I had been placed in the year 2008 February. It was our first campus placement. Though I did not want to do job in it, I attended just for experience and finally I got selected as Satyamite.
Now the job is of no use beacuse Satyam is ruined, but still I feel great because I got selected in that company when it is one of the top most companies in India as well as world.
The Campus placement started like this
They conducted the placement in Malla Reddy Engineering college, Maisammaguda. It was conducted for 2 days 7th and 8th February, 2008. The strength of the students attended to the placement was about 3000 students.
First they gave overview of the company and its profile. Later they gave small presentation on how the campus drive is going to be conducted. After that as the strength was very huge they divided into different batches and conducted the written test.
Our college students wrote the exam in first batch itself. The exam paper had 15 questions. The time allocated for the exam was 30 minutes. And each question was very confusing. But if you can find the logic its very simple. There was negative marking for the wrong answers.
The exam paper was comprised of analytical reasoning, aptitude questions, verbal reasoning questions and very important is data interpretation.
We finished our exam and were waiting for our results, in mean while another batch also wrote their exam. We had to wait for such a long time since there were many students who attended since it was our very first campus placement of our batch 2009 passouts.
We had to wait in the college campus till night 10 O'clock. Finally they announced the results. It was very memorable moment when they said that out of 3000 students they selected around 400 and I was one among them. I was on cloud 9 at that moment. And 5 of my classmates are also selected for the interview round.
And the day 1 ended like that.
And the day 2 started like this
They asked us to assemble at the conference hall for the rest of the process to be continued. We all assembled there and had to wait for the officials to come. They arrived and gave a brief description of the schedule on that day.
They gave a form to fill all our details. After that they organized some 15 panels for the interviews to be conducted. And they divided total students into many batches. And the interviews started.
My turn came in last batch. I had to wait too long to attend the interview. First they took me to panel 2, the interviewer was an HR and therefore I relaxed and did not bother about technical. But as our panel HR was taking more than half an hour for each student. Time was not sufficient and they asked mt to attend in another panel. I was so confused and very tensed because at the last moment they changed my panel.
Anyways I appreciate the patience of HR people who were conducting these interviews since morning and it continued till evening 7. And at that time also the HR had enough patience to question me for another 30 minutes.
The interview went like this
Interviewer: He asked me to introduce myself
Me: answered
Interviewer: He asked about my area of interest
Me: I answered "C"
Interviewer: He asked to scale my rating in C
Me: I said about 5-6
Interviewer: He started asking questions in C and various differences in loops, files etc
Me: answered everything very confidently
Interviewer: He tried to argue and confuse me a lot for a question inC
Me: I gave written answer and justified my answer
Interviewer: He asked me to say all my subjects in my last semister(3-1)
Me: I answered but forgot a subject in tension
Interviewer: He questioned me in each and every subject of that semister
Me: answered patiently
Interviewer: He asked me from accounts
Me: (We had a subject called MEFA-Managerial Economics and Financial Accounts) I did not answer because i was not confident enough on that solution. I was very tensed at that moment.
Interviewer: He asked questions in UML, Operating systems, Computer networks and in automata theory.
Me: I answered everything but was bit nervous.
Interviewer: He asked me some questions regarding my Family.
Me: I answered
This process went on for about 30-40 minutes after 7 in the evening. I was totally tensed about the result.
The time was 8 and the higher officials came to announce results. And I was one of them, which gave great pleasure to me. Finally day 2 also ended.
It was the most memorable day as I got my first job, but now all in vain.

Hi Shobha,
It's interesting to read your first interview experience; really you expressed your thoughts very well on paper. Its true that any individual can't forgets its very first interview of his life and it become more memorable when success comes to our way.
While reading the post I was also trying to recall my all semesters subject which I have study in college, but truly speaking I was not able to recall most of them. Thanks for the good post.
