Lapses in Metro Rail

Metro Rail Service, the fastest and the safest means of transport for Delhiites . Catering to vast population everyday starting at 6 in the morning to 12 at night . It is the most sought service as compared to other forms available. Metro tracks being laid through out the city and many more in the pipeline, that have been given approval and yet to come up. Work has been in progress at a very fast pace. Completion being made earlier than due dates, city is to witness opening of some more lines by the year 2010.
The frequent lapses with respect to metro be it related to technical problem, due to manufactures defect by the builders in the early stages; or theft of cable wire, thus disrupting the services are doing the rounds. Early completion of work before due date, the builders are compromising on certain parameters. They simply are missing out on conditions, proper checkup and the safety. There have been many accident in the past with the whole structure collapsing , or crane supporter falling off. Thus creating risk for the commuters as well as the workers also .
But the recent news about the missing cable wire raises question about the security and the vigilance which is lacking, is matter of concern. And not to forget the derailment of metro train not once but twice is doing the rounds as well .The first at Dwarka and the second between Indraprastha and Yamuna bank in the early hours is a concern for all. If it would have been in the wee hours, when there is rush would have resulted in much more serious consequences.
With no maintainance work and routine checkup, even metro is posing threat and inviting accident. Earlier it was considered to be safe ride one can ever have. DMRC is taking such incidents casually with pretext that such mishappeninigs are bound to happen some time or the later . But are they taking proper steps to ensure the safety .Acutally they are counting on the fate itself and putting off the blame away.
If steps are not taken properly it will lead to serious consequences. In the coming future with the completion of further projects that have been in progress or have been shown green signal . It is going to be most sought out service provider by all. DMRC should be more accountable and proper answer should be provided. Committe should be made to look into this mishappenings. The loops need to be found out and thus action plan should be prepared and enforced before it is too late.
