1. Explain the following briefly

(b) Bravai’s lattices
(c) Unit cell
(d) Atomic packing fraction. (3+4+4+4)

2. (a) Discuss in detail Bragg’s x-rays diffraction method with neat diagram.
(b) What do you meant by co-coordinating number? (12+3)
UNIT 2
3. Explain briefly following
(a) Point defects
(b) Line defects
(c) Volume defects
(d) Lattice vibration (3+4+4+4)
Or
4. (a) Discuss in detail Einstein’s debye theory
with neat diagram.
(b) Define the term “Thermal Conductivity”. (12+3)
UNIT 3
5. (a) Deduce Clausius Mosotti relation
(b) Define “Dielectric loss”. (12+3)
Or
6. (a) Explain briefly piezo electrics, ferroelectric and pyroelectric
Materials with neat diagrams.
(b) Write down their few applications (12+3)
UNIT 4
7. (a) Explai the quantum theory of ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism
(b) Draw hysteresis curve and its parameters
(10+5)

8. (a) Explain the following with examples,
(1) Magnetic bubbles
(2) Curie temperature
(b) Explain different types of magnetic material with examples.

UNIT 5
9. (a) Define the “superconductors”.
(b) Discuss in detail type 1 and type 2 superconductors.
(c) What do you meant by compound semiconductor?

10. (a) Explain the phenomenon of Hall effect with experimental setup.
(b) Explain the properties of high temperature conductor with example.
