Sri Y N College

Hi friends,
I want to share my Degree college days which is the best time in my life. Initially I felt so sad to join degree as my aim is engineering. Then, when I got admission into Sri Y.N College, I felt very lucky to study in the college in which my father also studied. It is such an ancient college started in the year 1949 as Narsapur College by Sri Yerramilli Narayana Murthy, an eminent advocate. Later on i.e. in the year 1967 it is renamed after its founder as Sri Yerramilli Narayana Murthy College popularly known as Sri Y.N College.
I completed my graduation (BSc) in Sri Y.N. College in the year 2000-2003. The college is affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. The college is accredited with ‘A’ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In the year 2000 college has celebrated Golden Jubilee.
First day the interaction session with lecturers is very interesting as well as very informative. They taught us many facts which we don’t know previously. They developed the interest in us to study Degree. They emphasized the fact that degree is nothing less than engineering. Thus we started the journey of our Degree with new zeal.
Coming to the faculty, the college has excellent skilled lecturers. My stream in BSc is MPCs (Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science). Each and every department has very talented lecturers.
Coming to the Mathematics department, everyone is heart touching. If we attend the class with full concentration, no need to refer again. We used to get good marks. Such an impressive lecture. Few names of math’s lecturers are SVL sir (one of the best lecturers in Andhra University), Murali Krishna sir, Sai Baba sir, Nagesh sir, Somayajulu sir etc.
In Physics department also, we have eminent lecturers like Katikireddy sir (extraordinary teaching), Phani sir (he is the one who used to teach with real time examples), Ram Mohan sir (he used to be very serious. Everyone scared at him. But his teaching is excellent) etc.
In Computer Science department, the Head of the Department is Swami Sir. He used to come to our class. He taught us so many general things irrespective of syllabus. We got to know so many things about computers because of him only. Other lecturers in this department are vasu sir, padmaja madam etc.
Our principal at that time Mr. Ramanujam sir is very friendly. He is very interactive with students. He himself directly comes to students to know their problems. Really I feel very proud to say that I was the student of Sri Y.N College.
Our campus is spread over 14 acres. So we have spacious classrooms, well equipped, spacious labs, huge auditorium, foot ball court, huge play ground etc. Previously everything is sheds. Now everything is remodeled and all sheds turned to buildings. One of the most famous things with our college is “Padmabhushan MeghaStar Chiranjeevi” studied in our college only.
The college is providing many courses like Intermediate, BSc, BA, BCom, MBA, MCA, with all streams both in English and Telugu mediums. Now they are also planning to start BEd College also. Hostel facility is also available with good accommodation and food.
Apart from studies, we used to have extra circular activities like sports, dance competitions, singing competitions, quiz programmers’ etc. We used to participate in youth festivals from our college. The college appreciates us with prizes and merit certificates. During our tenure, we started celebrating “Sankranthi Sambaralu” depicting how villagers celebrate the Pongal festival.
Those days are really wonderful. We have fun along with our studies. We can’t get back those days. The college produced many engineers, doctors, actors, IAS officers, judges, lawyers etc. The Alumni comprises all these eminent personalities.
The college also offers many scholarships for economically backward people. It provides a way for them to pursue their education. The management is very effectively running the institution. Now the management comprises of doctors and lawyers. Dr. Chinimilli Satyanarayana is the present secretary & correspondent of the college.
I never forget those days spend in that college. Now also whenever I go to Narsapur, I’ll go to my college. Some of my friends are working as lecturers in the same college. Sharing the views on my college makes me very happy.
