With the rising popularity of mobiles with larger screens (thanks to touch sensitive technology), quite a few vendors are looking at extending corporate applications to the mobile. One of the obvious areas where this can be seen is in CRM apps. Since sales folks are on the move, providing them a way to access sales applications without having to boot up their laptop will be welcomed with open arms! Let’s look at some of the vendors that are providing CRM apps on the mobile phone:
- Mobile Edge for Microsoft Dynamics CRM extends Microsoft Dynamics to the mobile world. Mobile Edge is developed by a third party vendor and claims to provide offline access in addition to online access, since it uses a client / server architecture instead of browser based deployment.
- Mobile Edge is also available for Sugar CRM by the same vendor that has developed Mobile Edge for Microsoft Dynamics.
- Etelos CRM provides access to activities like Contact management, Appointment setting, Call logging and Reporting via the Safari browser on iPhone. Other mobiles that support Safari browser can also be used to access the application.
- Salesforce.com recently announced a new version of its mobile customer relationship management (CRM) application tailored for use with Apple’s recently released iPhone 3.0 operating system.
