Every Indian celebrate 15 Aug as flag hoisting. And this day is a national holiday. In this day people do thanks our leader who faught for freedom.
How to Celebrate : Indian people celebrate as Flag hoisting, distribution of sweets in schools, flying kites, singing patriotic songs, entertainment and cultural programs, march past, speech, etc.
All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration in attendance. The main event takes place in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. In his speech, he highlights the achievements of his government during the past year, raises important issues and gives a call for further development.

Some History:Independence day of India started on 15 Aug 1947.The midnight of August 15, 1947 is memorable for every Indian on earth, as it is the time, when India gained independence from the stranglehold of the mighty British. And With the decision by Britain to withdraw from the Indian , the Congress Party and Muslim League agreed in June 1947 to a partition of India along religious lines. Under the provisions of the Indian Independence Act, India and Pakistan were established as independent dominions with predominantly Hindu areas allocated to India and predominantly Muslim areas to Pakistan.

This is the most important day in the history of our country. We got our freedom aback from the Britishers. Today we may not realize the importance of this day, but we should give a thought to those great people who fought for years to get their country free.It is because of the sacrifices and struggle of those people that we are breathing in a free air today. Otherwise we would have still been prisoners, slaves in our own country.

I salute all the great people who sacrificed their lives to give us a chance to live in a free country.
