Hampi is a town in northern Karnataka, which has both historic and religious relevance. Hampi was the capital of the Vijaynagar Empire during the 14th to 16th century AD.

It contains several monuments of the old city and is a treat for history lovers and tourists. Hampi is situated on the banks of the Thungabadra River. It is 353 kms from Bangalore.

There are some places, which should not be missed. One such place is the Virupaksha Temple. It is a Shiva temple situated in the Hampi Bazaar. Apart from Lord Shiva this temple also has shrines of goddesses Bhuvaneshwari and Pampi.

Other places to visit in Hampi are Archeological Museum, The underground temple, Thungabadra river, Vittala temple, Royal Enclosure, Krishna Temple, Madhavan palace and many more!

Hi,

Hampi is in Karnataka state and it is known for its art of sculpture. Many people visit it as there are many temples which are designed with such artistic styles. There are a large number of spectators visiting Hampi to see such beautifully built temples and to know about the cultural heritage of Karanata State. It also gives us an idea on how good the culture and the sculptures were during that period of time.

I remember having visited Hampi during my school days and now I feel there are some more advancements made.

Best regards,
Mala.
