FTP means File Transfer Protocol. This is used to transfer small files and other documents in the computers connected in certain network. In some big organizations like colleges, companies there will be one server to which many systems are connected and work is performed. In this case, If any file is to be transferred one cannot perform it manually nor can send it through mails as there will be no internet connection and only Intranet is available. In these cases use can use FTP site which can be created easily and send the files in between the systems in the network. Now,we will discuss on How to create a FTP site in detail.Just follow the "Fifteen step" procedure which is very easy to create your own FTP site.

Steps To Create a FTP Site

Step 1: Go To Start -> Programs -> Administrator Tools -> Internet Service Manager (ISM) -> Internet Information Services (IIS)

Step 2: Now, Right click on "Server" select "New" Click on "FTP Site" .

Step 3: If you Get the message like "Service Not Installed" .Then follow the next Step.

Step 4: Go To Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add/remove Windows Components

Step 5: Select "IIS" then click on "Details".In Details tick on "FTP" then ok then next.

Step 6: Log off once and go to "FTP Site" then we will get "welcome wizard"

Step 7: Click on "Next".you get "Description" and it will ask Port settings and IP address.

Step 8: Under IP address select "All Unassigned".(we will select this option because we are not confining only to one IP address for file sharing)

Step 9: Now,Click on "Nest", choose path : Choose C-drive -> Inetpub -> Select "FTP Root" then click on "OK" .

Step 10: click on "Next" and allot "permissions" .

Step 11: Click on "Next", Then Click on "finish" .

Step 12: Now right click on "Default FTP site" then "Properties" we find same TCP value. (Two sites cannot be worked on same TCP value )

Step 13: So,Right click on "Default FTP site" and select "Stop", So that all operations will be stopped.

Step 14: Insert the content in Specified path (The file you are uploading) .

Step 15: Now, Open Internet Explorer and Type your IP address you will find your files Uploaded.

Later, Any client system can type the IP address and can view the files uploaded and can even download them if the permissions are granted by Administrator.

So,Use these steps and create your own FTP site in your organizations and Enjoy.

Best Regards,
Krish.
