Samaddosha Samagnisch Samadhatu Malakriya !

Prasanna Atmendriya Manaha Swastha Ityabhideeyate !!

Manas is such a functional organ, the state of health and ill health will be depicted by the state of mind. Only somatic health is not a complete health, the psychic health is also very much important. The status of the mind can be identified by its five objects Chibtyam, Vicharya, Uuhya, Dhyeye and Samkalpa.

When there is any derangement in these areas of manas an individual suffers with mental disorders. Along with trividha nidanas the main nidana for mental disorders said by Charaka as attainment of undesired thing and non attainment of desired thing.

Charaka classifies the mental disorders as the diseases caused by Rajas and Tamas. They can be considered as anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. Along with these, Charaka has highlighted some of the Ubhayashrita Manovikaras like Unmad, Apasmara and Atatwabhinivesha.

These all types of manasika vikaras can be prevented by some modalities like, Tyagaha, Pragnaparadha, Indriopashama, Desha-Kala-Amtmadi gnana. These can be treated with trividha chikista mainly Daiva, Yuktivyapashraya and Satvavajaya chikitsa. Identification of the mental faculty is very important to decide the treatment. If chesta vibhramsha is there, Adravya bhoota chikitsa like trasana, bhayadarshana may be adopted. If manovibhramsha is caused, Medhya Rasayanas are very much beneficial. Important chikitsa is satwavajaya chikitsa. The modalities like Gnana, Vignana, Dhariya, Smrithi and Samadhi. According to the involvement of the mental factors and the samprathi the one or the other modalities can be selected. Totally the intention of all chikitsa is to improve the state of satva, bringing alpa satva to pravara satva.

Console and accept the suffers, don`t reject them.
