The railways budget was presented by Mamta Banerjee on July 3rd. The Budget has most of the ideas that Lalu showed in his previous Budget. However, this was a old wine in new bottle - Lalu statement.
The Budget had many key features and also which are good for common people (Aam aadmi) and also the best for West Bengal. Mamta Banerjee pulled up the show in the Parliament by speaking in Bengali Hindi. By providing the best of the Budget and also humor during the Budget.
The Budget support increased from 10,0000 Cr to 15,0000 Cr this year. Though the Railways has been a big turnaround from loss making organization to Profit making organization. The Budget was distributed equally between the states, however, as it happens always West Bengal got the most of share.
SOme of the key highlights of the Railway Budget 09 are:
1) Tatkal advance period has been cut down to 2 days with a charges of 100 than 150/-
2) The passengers fare has not been increased.
3) The freight rates have not been changed.
4) There are 57 new trains added. Out of 27 extended , 13 more frequent. Out of 57 new trains 15 are for West Bengal.
5) Now here you go we will have a Double Decker AC-train.
6) Ladies only train in Delhi, Chennai, Kolkatta.
7) Rs.25/- monthly pass for the poor who travel 100km.
8) Student passes to be extended to madarasa Students and to Kolkata Metro.
9) 50 world class stations which will developed in combination of Public and Private. The station will contain Hotels and Shopping Malls.
10) Some of the stations will turned into Adarsh station - 375 out which 181 are from West Bengal.
11) Now here you go Railways are becoming more passengers friendly with providing the most services in Rajdhani, Shatabi, long distance train.
Some of the Key features of the Budget. This was responded in Both ways.. As some of the state have not received anything some received a good amount of support.
We need to wait and watch how the Union Budget 2009 goes on July 6.
