GD&T New Standard ASME

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has updated the GD&T Standard in March 2009, and the updated version ASME Y14.5 – 2009 is now in effect.

Below are the brief changes/updates in this Standard:

Datum feature Simulators (Theoretical & Physical)
Datum Definitions -> Maximum Material Boundary (MMB), Least Material Boundary (LMB) and Regardless of Material Boundary (RMsB)
Definitions of Related and Unrelated Actual Mating Envelopes (AMEs)
Regular and Irregular Features of Size
Interdependency Symbol
New “All Over” Symbol
Continuous Features
Unequally disposed profile tolerances
Datum Translation modifier
Movable Datum Targets
Flatness Tolerance to control the derived median plane of a Feature of Size
Degrees of Freedom arrested by Datums
Specifying the maximum geometric tolerance in the frame to limit the Bonus
Three segment Composite Tolerance frame
