A Sensational New Racket Busted in Rajasthan

It is said that the money is root cause of most of the evils and we humans continue to present such examples every day that confirms this ages old quote. A sensational new racket in Rajasthan once again proves that how much low people can stoop for little monetary gains. What is more shameful in this case is that the lifesavers Doctors are involved in it and they used children below the age of 15 years for their purpose.

The racket was busted in the Hindaun city of Karauli district in Rajasthan. It was revealed that the owners of three nursing homes and hospitals used the minors to take the blood out of their body forcibly. The police have arrested 5 persons so far while few others are still absconding.

The racket was being run for past few years. The three nursing homes in question are Rajgirish hospital, Singh nursing home and Tirupati hospital. The owners of Singh nursing home and Tirupati hospitals - Dr. Nawab singh and Raghuveer singh – were former employees of Dr. Girish Agarwal, the owner of Rajgirish hospital. All 3 of them sensed that the scarcity of the blood in the rural areas gives a good opportunity for earnings. They joined hands and had been running this business for past 2-3 years.

The owners took help of the staff of their hospitals for this purpose. The staff members which included cleaners and lab technicians were paid up to 400 for each kid. Their modus operandi was very simple. The kids used to be lured to the hospitals by promising them Kachouri and juice at the hospital. Once inside the hospital their blood would be taken out and then they would be dropped to their villages. Before that they were threatened for consequences if they opened their mouth in front of their parents. Even after that they were monitored for few days to confirm that the kids didn’t speak up.

Initial investigation has revealed that around 30 kids from the nearby villages were used for this quick money making scheme. The number is expected to grow since the case is still under investigation. Most of the minors belonged to poor families.

The blood was then sold at the minimum cost of Rs. 5000 to the private hospitals of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh as well as in the nearby areas. The hospitals worked in synchronization and so no records could be found regarding blood donations. Either the record wasn’t maintained or they were destroyed.

The Police suspect that the racket could be bigger and the hospitals of neighboring states too could be involved. This heinous crime once again shakes a person’s conscience and forces us to accept that Humans are after all civilized animals only.
