About The University : The mission of Lingaya’s University (LU) is to impart professional education to young men and women to enable them to promote industrial, economic and social development of the country.
The University has adopted trimester system with continuous and internal evaluation to make teaching-learning process more effective. The educational programmes are of modular type and flexible in nature. The various flexibilities provided in the selection of courses etc. fulfill legitimate educational and operational needs of students. Option exists for internship scheme through which a useful on the job experience in industry is provided. The scheme establishes useful linkage with industry.
The University offers academic programmes at the three levels viz U.G., P.G. and Doctoral.
All U.G. Programmes in the University include adequate number of basic science, engineering science and technical arts courses. There are several common courses to various programmes at the same level and category.
The curriculum is purported to:
(i) encourage the students to be creative and explore their potential in their chosen areas of learning, and (ii) enable mobility of graduates by providing credit based academic programmes compatible with other advanced countries as well as equipping them with adequate communication, managerial, leadership skills and ethical values.
It has the following distinct features:
Trimester system is being followed. Attendance is not a component of evaluation but is made compulsory. Two-Letter grading system is used to evaluate students’ performance. Summer term has been introduced to help the students clear the backlog after due inputs. Flexibility in the registration of courses in a Trimester to suit the individual student’s capabilities within a range is allowed. Provision exists for doing more courses than are necessary for meeting minimum requirement of credits for a degree. A student is not held back, if he fails to clear non-core subjects within the permissible range. Evaluation system is made transparent with the provision of showing answer books to the students for all the examinations, including end-term examination. The grievance redressal regarding evaluation is transparent and justifiable.
Admission Procedure :- Admission for B.Tech. (Regular) shall be made according to the Merit list to be prepared, giving Weightage to Marks of AIEEE (09) Exam, and PCM of Qualifying Exam i.e. 10+2 or its equivalent from a Recognised Board. While preparing the list, 50% Weightage will be given to AIEEE (09) Marks, and 50% to the PCM Marks of the Qualifying Exam, giving equal Weightage to all three, i.e. Physics, Chemistry/Computers, Mathematics. In case of more than one candidate scoring the same marks, the candidate with higher Marks in the AIEEE (09) Exam will rank higher in the order of Merit. If there is still a tie, the candidate, who is senior in age, shall rank higher in order of Merit. The selected candidate shall have to deposit the Fee* as per the Schedule**. If a candidate has been allotted a branch other than his first preference, he/she is required to indicate at the time of payment of Fee, whether he/she would still like to be considered for earlier indicated higher preference. In case he/she declines then there will not be any sliding in that case. In case he/she does not specifically mention, he/she will be automatically considered for sliding and he will have to accept the branch allotted to him/her. The second list, if required shall be displayed as per the Schedule. The list will also consider those applicants who were allotted branch other than their first preference in the first list and had not deposited the Fee and also those who had paid the Fee and volunteered for consideration for higher choices. The candidates who were allotted first preference in the first list and did not deposit the fee by the due date shall not be considered in the second list. There will be no change in the allotted branch after this. In case, the candidate does not deposit Fee by the due date as per Schedule, loses his/her claim on the seat, allotted to him/her. Such seats shall be filled up on the basis of the Merit of the PCM % of the Qualifying Exam i.e. 10+2 or its equivalent.
How to Apply :- Sale By Post: Admission Brochure along with Application Form can be obtained through registered / speed post. A request in this regard should be sent to the Registrar , Lingaya’s University, C-72, Second Floor, Shivalik, Near Malviya Nagar, New Delhi-110017. An Application on plain paper is to be addressed to the Registrar requesting to issue Admission Brochure is to be sent. The Application should clearly mention the name and the address of the applicant; A Demand Draft of Rs.700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only) in favor of Lingaya’s University, payable at New Delhi. The name, address and phone no. of the applicant should be clearly mentioned on the back side of the Demand Draft/Pay Order; Two self addressed slips to be enclosed for communication. The request for application by post must reach the University latest by 13-06-09. The amount once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances. The envelope of the application requesting for the issuance of the admission brochure must be super-scribed at the left top corner as “REQUEST FOR ADMISSION BROCHURE FOR THE SESSION 09-10”. The University will NOT be responsible for the delay, loss or damage, if any (during the transit) of the application/demand draft/pay order for issuance of the admission brochure and for the admission brochure after its dispatch from the University. Online Application Form: The candidates desirous to apply online can do so by visiting the University Web site available at http://lingayasuniversity.edu.in. However he/she is required to deposit Rs.650/-(Rupees Six Hundred Fifty Only) in any CBS branch of Bank of India in the account no. 67032011000188 in the name of “Lingaya’s University Admission Fee Account” and give the reference number at appropriate place in the Online Application Form.
