ADMISSION TO THE M.A., M.S.W. AND P.G. DIPLOMA COURSES, 2009
Applications are invites to the following academic programmes for the academic year 2009-10 in the Main Centre and the various Regional Centres of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. Name of the Centre and details of the courses offered at the respective centre are given as hereunder 1. Main Centre, Kalady a) MA – Malayalam, Hindi, English, History, Philosophy, Music, dance (Bharathanatyam and Mohiniyattom), Theatre, Comparative Literature & Linguistics, Sanskrit Sahitya, Sanskrit Vedanta, Sanskrit Vyakarana, Sanskrit Nyaya, Psychology, Vedic Studies, and Gender, Ecology & Dalit Studies. b) M.S.W. c) P.G. Diploma in Translation and Office proceedings in Hindi
2. Regional Centre, Thiruvananthapuram MA – Malayalam, Hindi, English, History, Sanskrit Sahitya, Sanskrit Vedanta, Sanskrit Vyakarana and Sanskrit Nyaya. 3. Regional Centre, Tirur a) MA – Malayalam, Hindi, History, Arabic, Sanskrit Sahitya and Sanskrit Vyakarana. b) M.S.W. 8. Regional Centre, Koyilandy MA – Urdu, Malayalam, Sanskrit Sahitya and Sanskrit Vedanta 9. Regional Centre, Payyannur a) MA – Malayalam, Hindi, History, Philosophy, Sanskrit Sahitya, Sanskrit Vyakarana and Sanskrit Vedanta b) M.S.W.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION: Admission to various Ma, M.S.W. and PG Diploma courses for the academic year 2009-10 is based on the marks obtained in the Entrance examination to be conducted in May, 2009. Eligibility for applying to M.A/M.S.W/P.G. Diploma courses is a degree of this University or a degree recognized by this University under the 10+2+3 pattern. Those regular students who have passed the Part I & II and appearing for the final year/ semester Degree Examination in the year 2009 are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination. A candidate is not eligible to seek admission for MA Courses, if (i) he/she possesses/ completed a P.G. Degree (ii) he/she discontinued the P.G. Degree Course of this University (iii) he/she is currently on the rolls for a P.G. Course of this University, Bachelor’s Degree in the concerned subject is necessary for Music and Dance. Those candidates who are selected for admission to the course will have to submit the final year degree marksheets/ provisional degree certificate on or before 30th September, 2009. This relaxation is applicable only to those candidates who have appeared/ are appearing for their qualifying degree under the regular stream and not under the supplementary scheme provided they shall produce the marklists of Part I & II at the time of interview.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: All eligible candidates applied for admission to various courses under this notification will be called for an Entrance Examination at Thiruvananthapuram, Panmana, Ettumanoor, Kalady, Thuravoor, Thrissur, Tirur, Koyilandy and Payyannur. The entrance test and aptitude test to candidates who seek admission for M.A. Music, Dance and Theatre will be held in the Main Centre at Kalady only. Admission to M.A. Gender, Ecology & Dalit Studies will be based on group discussion and interview of 20 marks in addition to the entrance test of 2 hours duration with a maximum of 80 marks. 10% of the marks obtained in the entrance examination will be given as weightage to the candidates who have taken the same subjects as main/ core in the Degree level.
OPTION FACILITY: There will be separate entrance examination for each branch/course and a candidate can opt only three branches in MA Degree apart from M.S.W. and P.G. Diploma. The candidates are free to apply for any branches/ courses (except MA Music and Dance) regardless of the subjects they had taken in their graduate level, provided they shall opt the branch/ course of their choice so as to enable them to appear for the entrance examinations in the branches opted, in accordance with the time-table as given in the prospectus.
HOW TO GET APPLICATIONS: Applications for the various courses of study can be had from the offices of the Directors of the Main & Regional Centres from 06.05.2009 onwards on payment of the prescribed fee of Rs.100/- (Rs.250/- for M.S.W) payable at cash SC/ ST candidates need pay Rs. 25/- (Rs.50/- for M.S.W.) upon production of proof.
Those who intend to get the application by post may make a request to the Registrar, along with a crossed demand draft for the prescribed fee drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady payable at Union Bank of India, Kalady branch and two self-addressed envelopes (26*11 cm) each stamped for Rs.15/-, on or before 16.05.2009.
RETURN OF FILLED IN APPLICATIONS: Duly filled-in applications should be submitted to the Registrar, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady P.O., Ernakulam District, Pin-683 574. Last date for the receipt of filled-in applications is 22nd May, 2009. Late or incomplete applications will be rejected without further notice.

University reserves the right to make any change in the course content especially the optional subjects or withdraw a course either fully or partially, without assigning reasons whatsoever. More details can be had from the prospectus.
