About the Avinashilingam University:
Dr.T.S.Avinashilingam, a great educationist, a freedom fighter, an associate of Mahatma Gandhi, an ardent follower of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, the first education minister of Independent Madras Province founded this group of Institutions under the Avinashilingam Education Trust. First started in 1957 as a Avinashilingam Home Science College for Girls, later became an autonomous college and became a Deemed University under the name Avinashilingam Institute For Home Science And Higher Education For Women in 1988.It now has the Faculty of Home Science, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Community Education and Entrepreneur Development, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Engineering.
This University offers education at the Under Graduate, Post Graduate levels and provides opportunities for doing research leading to M.Phil. and Ph.D Degrees. Specialized education is given along with Indian culture and social moral and spiritual values.
Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore invites applications for the following programme

Eligibility:
To secure admission the applicants should appear for a separate Entrance Test conducted by Avinashilingam University / State Level Entrance Examination (CEE) / All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE).
Candidates should have passed in Higher Secondary Examination (Academic / Vocational Stream) and obtained a minimum aggregate percentage of marks as indicated below: (Maths +Physics +Chemistry)
For OC: 55%
For SC/ST: a pass
For MBC/BC and others: 50%
Age Limit:
Only candidate whose date of birth falls on or after July, 01, 1988 are eligible.
For SC/ST and Physically handicapped candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.
Fee Concession
SC/ST candidates - 50% tuition fee
APPLICATION:
The application form should be duly filled by the candidate and with the following enclosures should reach the Registrar, Avinashilingam University for women, Coimbatore - 641 043.
1.Proof for Date of Birth
2.Recently taken passport size photographs - 3 numbers
3.Xerox copies of the following
Community certificate
Transfer certificate and conduct certificate from the institution last studied
10 th mark sheet
All Original certificates (inclusive of 12th standard mark sheet) should be submitted during the time of admission.
Downloaded application forms must be sent with a DD for Rs.650/- (General Category) (Rs.350/-SC/ST) drawn in favour of "The Registrar, Avinashilingam University for women" payable at Coimbatore.
Important Dates:
Entrance Examination Date : April 11,2009.
Last Date for the submission of form : March 31, 2009.
