I was going through an article about Listening skills when, a strange thought crossed my mind - and a basic truth surfaced-- We listen when we’ve to listen….not when someone is saying something!

“I wish someone would listen to me and solve my problems”, was my line of thinking when another thought struck me. “What if I forget that I am a human being and treat myself as just another creation of nature?”

The moment I did this, I heard my ears overflowing with messages. I found the sun, the moon, the stars and every grain on this earth trying to tell me something. The dog barking on the street was saying something. The tree under which I was sitting started talking to me.
I was momentarily scared…

I started listening closely…I found all those entities around actually laughing at me!
“Hey, look at this guy. So deaf with ears, brooding over his problems… doesn’t even realize that we’re actually telling him the answers to his questions, solutions to his problems…if only he would listen!”

“Oh really?” I asked. “Okay, tell me how do I fix my problem?”

From somewhere I heard a voice. “I thought humans are the most civilized and intelligent life forms. Isn’t it simple to understand that there is nothing called problems, only choices? A problem happens when one is not able to make a choice—which is again a choice! So actually there is no problem at all.”

“Okay, so how do I know what choice to make in a given situation?” I was curious.

“Just keep listening and you’re bound to get the answer in the form of omens from somewhere. You remember when Dr. Patch Adams was about to jump off the cliff, he got the answer to his ‘problem’ from a butterfly!” the cool evening breeze was counseling me.

“Yeah, that’s right!” I exclaimed.

“Well that’s the way the universe speaks… if only you guys could listen!” I heard a tiny twinkling star speaking.

Since the last couple of days I’ve been practicing this out of the box listening skill. And I found that it actually works!

Try it for yourself! I’m sure it’ll work for you too!
