Concept and Synopsis:
A device used to control another device from some distance is called a Remote control.An infrared transmitter LED is used in the transmitter and the receiver uses a matching infrared photo-diode or photo-transistor to receive the transmitted infrared signal.
Infrared beams are a special form of light,Which has a wavelength of visible light.This makes the transmitted signal invisible to the naked human eye,but an infra red photo-diode or photo-transistor can sense this signal.
In our circuit,the transmitter feeds a coded signal(usually a fixed-tone square wave)into an infrared LED using IC555 as an Astable mode,which has its output focused into a beam that is aimed at a matching infrared photo transistor mounted on the remotely placed receiver using IC555 as a Monostable mode.The circuit action is such that(when the light beam is operating)the receiver output is normally off,but automatically activated an external control,counter or relay if the beam is interrupted by any objects.this type of system can have an effective detection range of up to 10 meters.this system is interfaced with the micro controller, according to the program the controlling actions like on/off,counting,conveyor and filling are done.Here we are using ATMEL 89C51 micro controller.the AT89C51 is a low power,high- performance CMOS 8-bit microcomputer with 4K bytes of Flash Programmable and Erasable Read Only Memory(PEROM).The OPTO-coupler used is to provide isolation between the micro controllers to the relay circuits.
