The design involves as a number of technical and economical aspects. The power capacity and distance of transmission are specified. The design details include selection of phase conductor, span, spacing and configuration of conductors, number and size of earth wires, no of insulators, clearances, sag under operation and erection conditions, the electrical parameters like resistance, inductance, capacitance etc. if these quantities are not with in prescribed limits, a revision of design is made. Once these design features are known, the voltage regulation and efficiency, voltage profile are calculated.
