Category: Improve Your English
#434796
Stylus,
Since this thread is related to the English language, I would like the opportunity to correct your English (not showing off, but trying to help you to improve your English skills!).
The title: the word is genius and not genious.
The text of your thread should be:
There are so many people around us, both offline and online, in our routine life. There are different people with different thoughts, different talents, [different exposure ~ not clear what this means], different opinions, different skills and different statements. Some think that they are supreme, learned, up to date in the English language or in general knowledge etc. Everybody can't be uniformly talented. Pros and cons will be there in every individual. Now tell me in a statement as a response how you will represent or show-off to others that you are the best or supreme in the English language (in any way, reading, writing, speaking, or understanding).
Note too the places where I have put the punctuation marks & where these have been removed.
When you make a commitment, you create hope. When you keep a commitment you create trust! ~ John C. Maxwell

I think there is no need to show off the knowledge of English. If you know that language well without errors, then people will come to you and you need not show off the same to others.

@Mam, I have saved notepad (nor edited this thread) and nowhere mentioned as 'showing-off'. I agree other words like, genious, surrounded, learnt etc. (exposure - for this subject, it is various physical, face, voice or mental expression while write, read and pronounce or speak etc. which we see them usually).
@Mohan Sir, other say you (as show off) like, you don't have strong communication skills or you are poor in writing etc. though you are good. Here they may test you or put you down or they show that they are so talented in communication.

Since English is a foreign language and no one is perfect in that language, no one can show off that they are genius or superior or expert in that language. Anyone who doesn't like English may comment that someone is showing off that they are genius in that language. Do you mean that a teacher when he teaches English to the students is showing off his English language ability. In any office, if the boss is not happy with the draft prepared by a clerk or his assistant, and if he corrects it, does it mean that he is showing off his knowledge in English. There is no question of show-off in English.

Showing off is not required if you are good in any language in general according to me.If you can do any of the tasks of speaking, reading, writing or even understanding any language with fluency then you will definitely impress others.
Then, there is no need to "show off" your language skills.
If you try to carry a fake accent no matter how good your English is to just show off then you will certainly not impress others around you.

Dear Stylus,
English language is considered to be the common language which unites the whole world. Therefore, people prefer not only learning it well but also perfecting it. There is nothing to 'show off'. It is just effective communication.

The people who are genious in English will never show that that are genious in English. Only the proudy people show their talents and tell to many people about the talents and skills. But the genious people use their knowledge for the welfare of other people. If they are genious and they saw that you have some mistake they will never tell you or comment you or will make you known that you are in mistake but they will make you feel understand that you are in mistake but if a proudy mam see it he will tell it loudly. He will show it to all. So if I will be genious I will never search your mistakes but set an example before you. As we all know that Vandana Mam is genious. She did not count your mistakes but she show you how we write a good paragraph. So I think you will have get the clear idea about the genious people.
Thanks & Regards

I like 'ar' last para responses. I think who responded to this thread is either older or unaware about mock call test and communication level tests at any reputed International Call centre around. If you ask any call center executive who work for US/UK voice process and their test often on voice, accent, volume and pitch etc. from V&A Trainer for monthly evaluation or appraisal purpose then you will understand my subject. Each call center executive almost screwed up while mock call test and email test etc., some fail on voice pitch, some while writing and some while reading upon test. Few actually are top in overall communication but still they get remarks in few parameters in V&A test. Some strong communication skills executive jumped to another organization just because of this reason and not for promo. In fact, few excellent in accent and fluency but when you tell them to write they will then make lot of mistakes in it. Few trainer or executive knowingly 'show off' that they are the best compare to their colleague. Many executive won't tell this fact to their family and friends.
I hope you guys are unaware or working out of it. Thanks for your responses.

Your response reminds me many doubts of mine in this regard as I am a person who worked in the old platform of computers (programming) always on a curiosity to know how the modern people are working. I know little bit that who are selected for BPOs either they go for voice or for data according to the talents the company found during training/interviews. Also I heard that name of a person also changed as they are changing the accent during the work spot/time, is it true?

Yes Madam, what you heard is right one. After initial interview from Employer or Consultancy and once selected (even if one got offer letter - no confirmation of their job), there will be induction then pre-process training and so on. During internal pre-process training (weeks or month and before entering office for real work) - either foreign client or local trainer change the name for few like Mike for Murugan, Garry for Ganesh etc. within organization to understand their changed name for overseas customer and calls only. Many doesn't know this nor Call center executive will tell their family or friends. Name neither officially nor document wise changing but just to take calls. Ego (I am the best or greater) is everywhere including for 'Language' department. That is one of the reason I raised this thread in educational site so member will know it in addition to their unawareness. We shall not be like 'Frog of well'.

You welcome Madam. Who opposed me let them try in Voice process (large vacancies are there across cities and country, age no bar) for UK or US process. They will realize that I am right what I said here once they rejected in first round itself, employer or HR round or Pre-process training is too far for them. I challenge this even for higher Admin people, Central or State Government employees and who think themselve that I am top or greater in English communication skills etc. Try it.
I also appreciate who are already working in US/UK voice process for a long duration. To surprise for many, I also appreciate for those who are in 'Call center ward' at any Mental hospital across country.

Stylus, Initially I was not clear about this thread and the core issue. Hence I was not able to respond in a relevant manner.
But from your intervention response no.35197 onwards the course of the thread has taken an interesting turn. I get some new insights from them. Though I had imagined about the tests for call center jobs, the above discussion gives me more clear idea. Thanks for that.

Thank you and Welcome Venki sir,
In addition to that, the one we speak fluency in English is just called 'neutral accent' and it is only helpful for Domestic (Indian) voice process and not for any international voice process. Admin or Non-voice process executive are little safer from this.
Who get trouble in US/UK accent and voice process?
The one who studied entirely in English medium from LKG to HSC or Graduate faces above stated issue, you may then just imagine for those who just studied in their regional language till SSC or HSC or Graduate and how few of them just 'show-off' here as they are an excellent or superior in English language.
I will let all of you know more about it soon.
