Hi Buddy,
I think taking the profession Umpiring depends upon person not an organisation. You have qualify all the rules and regulations specified by ICC to be enrolled into Elite panel. Now there are few Umpires from India for conducting International matches. Based on their performance, ICC may select somebody to Elite group.
Regards,
Manas

I too had always wondered why there's no Indian in elite panel. As a matter of fact the Indian umpires who are performing international duties are neither better nor worse than most of the elite panelists. It appears as if the BCCI is more interested in pushing through its business proposals in ICC rather than seeing to it that it is adequately represented un the panel of umpires and referees. BCCI had invited former first class players to become umpires. But out of some of whom qualified, the likes of Maninder and Yashpal chose more comforting alternatives like commentary. But really it is BCCI's job to push its nominees on the panel list

I would ay that purely our upires likes class. I think that they are not up to the mark and needs good traing in that respect and after all it just does not depend upon a persons descritin that he wants to join elite umpires club. there are many indian umpires in the mix who does umpiring for the ODI, I hope that atleast one of them is selected in the elite Panel of umpires
