BACHELOR OF EDUCATION

TEACHING OF ENGLISH

TIME: 3 hrs. Max. Marks: 60

SECTION – A (24 MARKS)

Attempt any 4 questions from the following section. Each question carries 6 marks.
Word limit for an answer is 250 words.

1. Differentiate between the functionalist view and interactionalist view, of the nature of English language.

2. Differentiate between the structural and communicative approach to language teaching citing relevant examples.


3. Explain briefly the procedure of teaching prose at secondary level of schooling.


4. To improve communicative competence of L2 learners, the classroom environment should be made interactive. Do you agree? Justify.


5. Elaborate on the need of Lesson Planning and Unit Planning in ELT.

SECTION – B (20 MARKS)

Attempt any two answers from the following section. Each question carries 10 marks. Word limit for an answer is 400 words.

6. Describe techniques of evaluating learner achievement in English.


7. What should ELT teacher do to improve their learner’s errors.


8. List five strategies for developing writing skills of learners. Illustrate the use of any three of them.

SECTION – C (16 MARKS)

Compulsory question. Word limit for the answer is 800 words.

9. What are the approaches of teaching Grammar? Prepare a lesson plan for teaching any topic on Grammar to secondary level learners.
