Q 1. What is the principal significance of the study of the Pervasive Computing Systems? Why are these systems called so? [3 + 2 = 5]
Q 2. What is the relationship between a pervasive environment and personalized end-user services within these environments? What are the ingredients that go into building such environments and why? Please explain with the help of a simple example. [2 + 3 = 5]
Q 3. What is the primary reason that a designer of a pervasive computing system for a passenger aircraft may require integration of an OSGi Gateway into the embedded information system designed for the aircraft? Please explain in detail with the help of suitable diagrams, where necessary. [5]
Q 4. What is the respective significance of Fitaly, Tegic T9, Octave methods of keyboards vis-à-vis traditional QWERTY layout based keyboards / keypads, in the context of mobile handheld devices like Smartphones, PocketPC phones etc.? [5]
Q 5. Answer the following in detail:
a. Describe the memory management, security, footprint, user-interface, user management and energy-awareness aspects of Symbian OS (version: 7 /8 / 9) operating system for mobile handheld devices. [2 x 6 = 12]
b. Compare the salient design features of the Transmeta’s Crusoe processor family. [8]
