About Dhirajlal Talakchand Sankalchand Shah College Of Commerce
he ‘Dhirajlal Talakchand Shah’ college has a distinguished history. It was established in 1984 and accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with B++. The college strives to cater the best education to its students so that they are well-equipped to quality for good placements. The college is associated with more than 15 Non-Government Organisations (N.G.O’s) to carry out various Community Development Programmes. For e.g. AIDS Awareness, Self- Help Group. Health Awareness, Yoga, Special Coaching to slum area students etc. The college has introduced innovative curricula and courses to import students an all-round education that is not just academic based.
We have obligations to society. I strongly believe that we have to solve the problems existing in the society. Therefore, the positive attitude of our Management, Student, Teaching and Non-teaching faculty leads the college towards a common goal. “COLLEGE AT THE DOOR OF THE COMMUNITY” We provide a platform to the students to make them good human beings. Otherwise, the knowledge imparted has little meaning. Ethics and Values are an integral part of the teaching – learning process of our college. The faculty of the college is well versed with the problem solving techniques for the benefit of the students. Our teachers strive to inculcate the values of the life in the students as also a good moral behaviour. This willm beyond doubt, ensure a sound help to the society and a fulfillment of social needs.
Our efforts will be proved complete support to talent in sports, debate, elocution, music, dance, drama, arts, yoga, various competitive examinations, personality development programmes and courses in spoken English, all of which can truly develop the overall personality of the students.
The Association of Non-Government Colleges (ANGC), the University of Mumbai and the Management of Sanskar Sarjan Education Society have sanctioned scholarship to 36 students. We thank all of them profusely.
A general knowledge Examination and a Quiz Contest for all the students was held in the college. For the First year students viva voce was conducted on Interpersonal and communication skills. Exhibitions on Books, Medicinal Plants and Transportation were organized. A workshop on Office Administration at the University level was organized for the Non – Teaching staff.
Mr. Zender Willie (Germany) associated with Dale Carnegie Foundation visited our college and delivered a lecture on ‘Communication Skills’ and a Delegation of students from Pakistan also paid a visit to college.
The Teaching and Non-Teaching staff is the backbone of college, and have been playing a very important role in the progress of the college. I take this opportunity to thank all my Teaching and Non-teaching colleagues most sincerely for their willing support to the multidimensional activities in the college.
I take great pride to announce that, prof. (Miss.) Susmita Daxini, Lecturer in commerce was awarded Ph. D. in commerce this year and that prof. Nihar Jambusaria, lecturer in Accountancy was elected the chairman of Western India Chartered Accountant’s Mumbai.
We deeply mourn to sudden demise of Late Shri. P. G. Mahendale, the First Principal of D.T.S.S. college (1984-88). It is indeed a great loss to us. Our college has lost in him an excellent administrator and an enthusiastic worker. We extend our heartfelt condolence to the members of the bereaved family.
I am proud of my students who are the soul of the college. To those who are to leave the portals of this college, I wish the very best for successful and meaningful careers in future, and joy and happiness in life.
